I was not impressed, thought it rather boring and turned it off after 20 minutes. It did contain more "history" content however than the usual HISTORY Prime Time fare. Reminded me of "Mythbusters". Good D.I.Y. show for would be serial killers.

Seemed to me like they take too cavalier an attitude about torture/trauma. Subjecting people to torture and the execution practices is patently unsafe. Even if no physical harm comes to the subject, there are psychological effects that shouldn't be underestimated. If I had worked there, I would have quit my job on the spot.

I thought this was an interesting new show for the History Channel. Some of the most popular shows on this channel have NOTHING to do with history. This show had history while still being interesting. It gives you a look into history while still having some fun interesting television. The cast seems knowledgeable about what they are creating and I think trying these devices out on everyday people gives you a real perspective of what horribly brutal torture and death people faced in history. I look forward to future episodes. PS-Whats so bad about mythbusters?

I really enjoyed Surviving History!!! It was AMAZING to see these guys (and girl!!) re-create these devices, the historian give a bit more insight on why they were used and to see them in action... The only other thing I'd like to see would be more of creative process and what the crew went through building these things!!!! Way AWSOME!!!!! Can't wait to see more of it (I may have to stay up late tonight to catch it again!!!)

Bravo! I was immediately pulled in. I loved the cast and their bizarre personalities. This show will be a huge hit. I've told all my friends about it. I stayed up and watched it twice and recorded it. Can't wait to see the next episode. Great job History Channel...you hit the mark with this one. ***** 5 stars

Too cavalier an attitude about torture/trauma, are you for real? These guys took great pride and their research of these devices very seriously when recreating these devices. This show is an INSTANT hit!!! Totally awesome ... The recreations of these devices used were absolutely amazing. Trust me when I say this, everyone involved in the "demonstration" use of these devices could have walked away at any time, they CHOOSE to go ahead with it so I highly doubt, no, I'm sure, there are no psychological effects bestowed on the individuals. Had you worked there, you probably would have 'wussed-out' so ... be thankful you have a boring and monotonous job to go to every day!

Watched the show....caught it by accident. I did not know it was even on. The rocket arrows were almost as cool as Dave's hair. I think more time spent on the props and animations would have helped....but, if you know Scarefactory they were probably swamped with Halloween (nice product plug) orders. Didn't see enough of the Wes......hmmmm maybe seeing more of Wes could be like torture in it's own right (jab to the ribs). I hope all is well.....I still have Torso a good trade for Battle Royale. Time to rub one. L8R.

I was very pleased with the show, we had alot of fun. Everyone involved had the opportunity to learn about historical engineering as it applied to those times. We were under tremendous time restraints. Production, filming and design season seemed to all hit at once. The Scarefactory did a great job of pulling it off. Lastly, we all take our careers very seriously and Safety is practiced on a daily basis. What you see on the Surviving History show was well planned and executed. We had medical staff on hand and tested what we built. Everyone was asked for input and we took necessary precautions to ensure there would be no accidents.
