History channel a little racist against whites?

Aug 19, 2007 5:07 AM
I just watched this special you guys had on slavery. It was on the morning show, where the host interviews a guest. In this show, he interviewed an expert on slavery. The problem is, you made it out to be like all white Americans were somehow responsible for slavery. Not only that, but you characterized it as a white vs black situation. You even pointed out that slavery "started the white black relationship".

In reality it was black tribal leaders that started the market for slaves in the first place. As far as slave trade goes, many more slaves were used in south America, by brown people not white. When talking about white peoples role in slavery, its a bit racist to just label all white people responsible. Especially considering many white cultures had nothing to do with slavery. For example the Irish, German and Russians never had a thing to do wit the slave trade. That means, most Americans had nothing to do with it sense most Americans came during the Irish/German immigrations to America.

So, you see how your report was completely inaccurate? Its not just the History channel though. This is the way its taught in most schools. I'm not sure why the distortions of fact are happening, but it does all seem kind of nefarious.
